We are the Northamptonshire Children and Young People’s Partnerships (CYPP) Participation Team. It is our job to help young people like you HAVE YOUR SAY!! Lots and lots of decisions are made about services for children and young people all the time, MILLIONS of pounds are spent each year on these services, and guess who have been making all of these decisions??? ADULTS!!!!!!!
Well we now think its time to listen to the people who these services affect, YOU!!!
We have been given a budget from the Children and Young People’s Partnership Board (CYPPB) to find different ways to interact and engage with you, to find out about what’s good about where you live, what’s not so good about where you live, and what’s absolutely rubbish!!! This applies to where you live and the different services you receive such as Connexions or Libraries or the Police Authority. We have helped to organise lots of different ways for you to get involved, either through your school council, through the services that you access, or through the SHADOW BOARD.
The Children and young peoples Partnership Board is made up of all the services you can think off (and some more!) that affect young people. The Police, Fire Service, the Health Service, Education, District and Borough Councils – they are responsible for public transport.
These adults meet four times a year (more often if necessary) to make decisions about these services and how they can work best to meet your needs. This board have now invited young people to attend these meetings to help them make the right decisions!! The young people that will meet with this board are known as the Northamptonshire SHADOW BOARD!!
The Participation Team is based in Northampton, but we cover the whole of Northamptonshire. We will support the SHADOW BOARD and AREA BOARD and go with you to meetings where you will feedback the views and opinions of other young people you represent. We organise Training and Fun Days to equip you with the skills and knowledge you’ll need to get your points across effectively. We are always looking for opportunities to get young people involved in what ever way they feel happy about. If you can think of any way you want to get involved that isn’t mentioned here please contact us, and we will try to help and improve access for you.
